Description
The Convivencia Series Ketubot are in exploration and celebration of the era of Convivencia (co-existence) of Jews, Muslims and Christians on the Iberian peninsula from 711 to 1492. The series composition utilizes the 8 pointed star as the nexus for the making of a covenant and a joining together of bodies and souls of two individuals, that marriage represents. Autumn is a season of reflection, harvest and preparation for winter’s scarcity. In the Jewish calendar autumn is one of the most sacred times of year and the beginning of a new year’s cycle. The harvest season is the primer for the Jewish New Year’s celebration, and when all prayers are answered, gratitude bestowed for the blessings of Divine Grace. Convivencia Otono weaves a brilliantly colored garland of celebration of autumn’s glory, with a promise of the sureness of the seasons’ cycles. With a marriage promise made in the fullness of harvest time the bounty of the earth is celebrated and revered, a special time of blessing for the beloveds.
