Description
This ketubah was adapted from a marriage contract, from Senigallia (Italy), 1837, in the collection of The Jewish Museum. The text at the top reads: “With a good sign and favorable fortune to the bridegroom and the bride and all of Israel, Amen” “He who finds a wife has found happiness” (Proverbs 18:22) The text at the bottom reads: “Olives around the table” (a reference to the couple having children like olive plants, from Psalm 128:3)
