Seven Species – Gold Leaf
Art By Lee Loebman
Description
This design is based on a paper cutting featuring the 7 species from Deuteronomy. “For the Lord your God brings you into a good land, …a land of wheat, barley, vines, fig trees, pomegranates; a land of olive oil and (date) honey” Deuteronomy 8:7-8. The phrase at the bottom is from “The Song of Songs” and means, “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine”.

Evident in everything from ancient artifacts to modern masterpieces, the glistening accents can add an ethereal touch to any work of art. Today, many contemporary artists continue to use silver and gold leaf in their work. These metallics are celebrated for their ability to accentuate color and form through luminous details.
