The Radiance of Dawn
Art By Debra Band
Description
The twelve pointed star that radiates from the Ketubah document itself is composed of two six-pointed stars, each worked in a different traditional Middle Eastern geometric pattern. The poetry surrounding the artwork, drawn from the Song of Songs 6:10 and 5:10, expresses the lovers’ excitement and joy in one another: Who is she that shines through like the dawn, Beautiful as the moon, Radiant as the sun, Awesome as bannered hosts… My beloved is clear-skinned and ruddy, Pre-eminent among ten thousand! His head is finest gold, His locks are curled And black as a raven.
