FAQs
Ketubah Texts & Religious Validity
Our ketubah texts include options from established Jewish legal and liturgical traditions, along with modern texts created for couples with different backgrounds, values, and ceremony needs.
The traditional Orthodox ketubah text is not a modern text written by one individual author. It is an ancient Jewish marriage contract, written primarily in Aramaic, that has been used and preserved through generations of rabbinic tradition. The wording outlines the groom’s obligations within the marriage according to traditional Jewish law. For Orthodox weddings, we offer the standard RCA Orthodox text, which follows the traditional Orthodox ketubah format commonly used in Orthodox ceremonies.
For Conservative weddings, we offer the Conservative ketubah text with the Lieberman Clause. The Lieberman Clause was introduced by Rabbi Saul Lieberman and is used in many Conservative Jewish weddings to help address the issue of a get, or Jewish divorce, within the framework of Conservative Jewish law.
We also offer additional modern Jewish legal text options, including the Gordon Tucker text, written by Rabbi Gordon Tucker, and the Gail Labovitz Brit Ahuvim text, written by Rabbi Gail Labovitz. These texts provide meaningful alternatives for couples looking for language that reflects their values and ceremony structure.
In addition, we offer egalitarian, interfaith, same-sex, secular, and custom text options, so couples can choose wording that reflects their ceremony, values, and relationship.
Because ketubah requirements can vary by rabbi, community, and location, we always recommend that couples review their selected text with their rabbi or officiant before giving final approval.
Most rabbis and officiants accept our ketubahs, but requirements can vary by rabbi, community, denomination, and location. We offer many commonly used text options, including the RCA Orthodox text, Conservative text with the Lieberman Clause, egalitarian, interfaith, same-sex, secular, and custom texts.
We strongly recommend sharing your selected ketubah text with your rabbi or officiant before final approval. If they require specific wording, you can send it to us and we can usually use it as custom text. Before printing, you will receive a proof to review and share with your rabbi or officiant so they can confirm that everything is correct.
We offer ketubah texts that are commonly used for halachic Jewish weddings, including the standard RCA Orthodox text and the Conservative text with the Lieberman Clause. Our traditional Orthodox text follows the established Aramaic ketubah format that has been used in Jewish marriage ceremonies for generations.
Because halachic standards can vary by rabbi, community, denomination, and location, we cannot make a universal guarantee that every text will be accepted in every ceremony. The validity of a ketubah may also depend on how it is filled out, signed, witnessed, and incorporated into the wedding.
Before we print your ketubah, you will receive a proof that you can share with your rabbi or officiant for review. If they require specific wording, you can provide it to us and we can usually accommodate it as custom text.
Yes. We send a digital ketubah proof for all personalized ketubahs and custom text ketubahs before they are printed. Your proof will include the couple’s names, wedding date, wedding location, and ketubah text filled in by our team, so you and your rabbi or officiant can carefully review everything before giving final approval.
If you order an unpersonalized ketubah and do not request any changes or edits to the wording, a proof is not sent before printing.
Yes. If you would like to add extra witness signature lines or make minor adjustments to certain words in the ketubah text, we can usually accommodate these changes.
When placing your order, please note your requested changes in the Special Requests section at checkout. If you have already placed your order, email us with your order number in the subject line and include the details of the change you would like to make.
Our team will review the request and let you know if there are any issues, or if the changes are extensive enough to require an additional customization fee.
A standard ketubah text is one of the ketubah text options we already offer on our website. To view the available texts, click the “Choose Your Text” tab on the product page, then select a Text Category. Each category includes one or more ketubah text options that you can choose from and add to your cart when placing your order.
A custom ketubah text is wording that is not part of our standard text library. This may be a text you wrote yourselves, a text provided by your rabbi or officiant, or a text purchased from another artist or source.
If you are using text from another artist or source, you will need to provide written permission for us to use it. Custom ketubah text should be emailed to us in a Word document or editable format so our team can properly prepare it for your ketubah proof.
We also offer custom ketubah text translation from English to Hebrew. Hebrew translation is completed by professional translators and usually takes about 7 business days.
If you have a Hebrew name but are not sure how to spell it in Hebrew, you can visit HebrewNamer.com to look up the correct Hebrew spelling. Hebrew Namer is a helpful resource for learning about Hebrew names, spelling variations, and different versions of a name.
If someone does not have a Hebrew name, we can still include them fully in the ketubah text by using Hebrew transliteration. This means writing their English name using Hebrew letters, so there are no blank spaces and everyone is equally represented on the ketubah.
When filling out the Ketubah Text Tool, enter the name in English letters in the section that asks for the Hebrew name. If no Hebrew equivalent appears, choose the option that says “My name was not found, please write it for me.” Once the form is submitted, our team will know that you would like that name transliterated into Hebrew for your ketubah proof.
Ordering & Personalization
You can see our Ordering Process in the video below – or, read on for a step-by-step process:

First, choose your ketubah art design, including the color, size, and print stock you would like. Then, select your ketubah text from the text options available on the product page.
If you are not sure which ketubah text is right for your ceremony, we recommend discussing the options with your rabbi or officiant before ordering. They will be the best person to advise you on the text category that fits your wedding, ceremony style, and requirements.
You will also need to decide whether you want a personalized ketubah or an unpersonalized ketubah. A personalized ketubah is filled in by our team with your names, wedding date, location, and other ceremony details. An unpersonalized ketubah is left blank in certain areas so it can be filled in by hand after you receive it. This is another good question to review with your officiant before placing your order.
After you place your order, we will send you a confirmation email with next steps based on the text option you selected. For personalized ketubah texts, you will need to complete and submit our ketubah text form before the order is prepared. Once your form is submitted, the artist will prepare a digital proof for you to review.
Your ketubah will not be printed until the proof has been fully approved by you and, if needed, your rabbi or officiant.
Unpersonalized ketubah orders are shipped as soon as they are ready and do not include a proof unless you have requested edits to the wording.
We also offer custom ketubah text options if you would like to use wording provided by you, your rabbi, or another approved source.
No problem – You can request this upon checkout in the Order Notes section. Tip: Just be sure to not order one of the few designs where name fill in is required. (Canvas, Washi Paper or Designs with white text).
A personalized ketubah text means our artist will fill in your names, wedding date, and wedding location directly within the ketubah text before it is printed.
An unpersonalized ketubah text means certain spaces in the text are left blank, so they can be filled in by hand after you receive the ketubah.
Please note that the signature lines are left blank for both personalized and unpersonalized ketubahs. These are completed when the ketubah is signed.
We strongly recommend confirming with your rabbi or officiant before ordering an unpersonalized ketubah, as some officiants may have a preference about whether the text is filled in before printing or completed by hand.
Yes, in most cases we can make minor ketubah text changes, such as adding extra witness signature lines or adjusting a few specific words in the text.
The easiest way to request these changes is to add a note in the Special Requests section at checkout when placing your ketubah order. If you have already placed your order, please email us with your order number in the subject line and include the details of the change you would like to make.
Our team will review your request and let you know if there are any concerns, or if the changes are extensive enough to require an additional small customization fee.
Please contact us as soon as possible and let us know what needs to be updated. If your ketubah has not yet been printed, we can usually update the wedding date, wedding location, or other personalized details before production.
If you do not have a new date or location confirmed yet, we can place your ketubah order on hold until you are ready to move forward.
Once your new wedding details are confirmed, email us with your order number and the updated information so we can continue preparing your ketubah proof.
We send proofs on all Personalized (and custom text) Ketubahs with the names, date and place of the wedding filled in by us. If you order an Unpersonalized Ketubah and did not ask for any edits to the wording, you will not receive a proof.
Design & Print Options
Most ketubahs do not come framed. The main reason is that your ketubah needs to be signed at your wedding ceremony, so it is usually best to have it framed after it has been signed.
The only exception is our stretched canvas ketubahs, which come stretched around a wooden frame and arrive ready to display. For all other ketubah print options, we recommend taking your signed ketubah to a local framer after the wedding. A professional framer can help you choose the right frame, matting, colors, and materials to protect your ketubah and highlight the beauty of the artwork.
Print stock refers to the material your ketubah is printed on. Many of our ketubah designs are available on fine art paper, canvas, or stretched canvas.
Our paper ketubahs are printed on a fine-textured, high-quality art paper with a beautiful matte finish. This option gives the artwork a soft, elegant look.
Our canvas ketubahs are printed on canvas and have a slightly more luminous finish. Colors on canvas often appear brighter, richer, and more vibrant.
Our stretched canvas ketubahs are printed on canvas and wrapped around a wooden frame. This is a great option if you want your ketubah to be displayed at the wedding and arrive ready to hang on your wall after the ceremony.

Our stretched canvas ketubahs are printed on canvas and wrapped around a wooden frame. This is a great option if you want your ketubah to be displayed at the wedding and arrive ready to hang on your wall after the ceremony.
We recommend choosing a frame size based on the final size of your ketubah print and whether you would like to include a mat around the artwork. Many couples choose a frame that is larger than the ketubah itself so the artwork has room to breathe and can be displayed beautifully.
For the best fit and finish, we recommend taking your ketubah to a local professional framer after it has been signed at your wedding. A custom framer can help you choose the right frame size, matting, glass, and materials to protect your ketubah and highlight the artwork.
Because your ketubah needs to be signed during the ceremony, we usually recommend framing it after the wedding. If you would like to display it at the wedding, you can place it in a temporary frame or display it on an easel, then have it professionally framed afterward.
When you visit the framer, bring your ketubah with you and ask about archival matting and UV-protective glass or acrylic to help preserve the artwork over time.

Yes, we’ll send you a shipping confirmation email with your tracking number as soon as your order has shipped.
All our Ketubahs are shipped with UPS. Our Ketubahs are shipped rolled in a protective box, and some will ship in a flatter box if rolling it would otherwise damage it . If you need to know the specifics for your design, feel free to reach out to our Customer Service team. Some designs are shipped flat and might not be suitable for air travel if you plan a destination wedding (including the Luxe collection, layered and stretched canvas ketubahs).
Yes, the vast majority of our designs are suitable for air travel. Most of our Ketubahs ship rolled in a protective tube, which is safe and compact for travel. This covers Artisan Prints on Paper and Canvas (not Stretched Canvas) and most Papercut designs. Some of our more intricate designs (e.g. those in our Luxe and Layered collections) will ship in a flat box and will be harder to travel with by air. There are other exceptions to this general rule, so if you have questions about your specific design, please be sure to reach out.

We offer a variety of text options, including language that works well for interfaith, multi-heritage, secular, spiritual, and modern ceremonies.
You can choose the wording that feels right for you, and for personalized ketubahs, your names, wedding date, ceremony location, and selected text will be filled in before you receive a proof to review.

Yes, we do! Hebrew is a gendered language, so we want to make sure that the Ketubah text reads correctly for all couples. Our LGBTQ+ texts are conjugated in Hebrew for same-sex couples.
We’ve also worked with language experts who are working towards a less gendered version of Hebrew. Our Non-Binary texts include options conjugated for two non-binary partners, a groom and non-binary partner, and bride and non-binary partner, so you can find a text that feels true to who you are.

Wedding Accessories & Add-ons
Our Wedding in a Box options bundle the Jewish wedding ceremony essentials: a Chuppah, Breaking Glass, and Wine Goblet. The main differences are the type of Chuppah, the Wine Goblet, and whether the Breaking Glass is paired with a Mezuzah or a Lucite Cube keepsake. A Ketubah is not included.
Essential Box
Includes a linen-like Fabric Chuppah, a Breaking Glass, and a Wine Goblet. The Fabric Chuppah comes in two size options: 4.3′ x 6′ or 4.3′ x 7.9′. The Breaking Glass is available in blue, green, or multi.
Premium Box
Includes a large wool Tallit Chuppah, available with black or white stripes, a Breaking Glass and Mezuzah, and a Wine Goblet. The Chuppah size is 5′ x 6.5′. The Mezuzah does not come with a scroll.
Exclusive Box
Includes a large wool Tallit Chuppah, available with black or white stripes, a Breaking Glass and Lucite Cube, and the Premium Wine Goblet. The Chuppah size is 5′ x 6.5′. Instructions are included for sending the glass shards after the wedding, and the finished Lucite Cube is shipped within 4–6 weeks after the artist receives the shards.
The Breaking Glass keepsake is a custom Lucite Cube made with the glass broken at your wedding ceremony. After the wedding, you send in your broken wedding glass and the pieces are preserved inside a crystal-clear Lucite Cube so the glass looks “frozen in time.”
The large rectangular cube measures 5.75″ x 3.75″ and includes up to 4 lines of engraving. Most couples choose to engrave their first names and wedding date.
Once the artist receives your glass shards, the finished keepsake usually ships within 4–6 weeks.
A Chuppah is the canopy a couple stands under during a Jewish wedding ceremony. It represents the new Jewish home they are building together, traditionally open on all sides like Abraham’s tent, symbolizing hospitality, openness, and the beginning of married life.
Fabric Chuppah
This is a simple canopy made specifically for the wedding ceremony. It is meant to be hung or held up with poles over the couple. The fabric has a linen-look with holes for hanging or standing it up with poles.
Tallit Chuppah
This is an actual Tallit, or Jewish prayer shawl, used as the Chuppah during the ceremony. Because it is a real Tallit, it can also be used after the wedding as a traditional prayer shawl, which gives it extra meaning. Many people do not wear a Tallit until they are married, so using one as the Chuppah can feel especially significant.
No. The mezuzah case does not include a scroll. You’ll need to purchase a kosher mezuzah scroll separately from a Judaica store, so it can be placed inside the mezuzah before hanging.
